i have question regarding home exemption before filing bk. i have a rented home in florida and a paid off home in north carolina. can i go to north carolina just before filing bankruptcy so that i can claim home exemptions?
Hi Guest,
If you have been living in Florida for the past few months then you won't be able to file your bankruptcy from North Carolina. You will have to stay in North Carolina for at least 180 days to file it from there.
Take care

Hi Guest!
Welcome to forums!
I agree with what Sara has said. You should get in touch with your bankruptcy attorney and take his opinion in this matter. I guess he will ask you to file your bankruptcy from Florida.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
