My dad died several years ago and had property in his name in Florida. My mother has been paying the porperty taxes since his death in 1994. I just found out about this and wondered how to get the property transferred to her name.
we are trying to buy a trailer and land from a brother and sister whose mother owned it but died and left it to them. The trailer is not worth anything as far as loan value but the land is, and they live in texas. How do I get this in our name and who pays for this?
Hi!
Welcome to forums!
To jcbdncr,
Your mother will have to file an affidavit of heirship at the county recorder's office and get the property transferred in her name.
To James,
You will have to ask the brother and the sister to sign a quitclaim deed and transfer the property to you. As the property is in their names, they will have to sign the deed. The buyer and the sellers both can share the costs of the transfer of the property.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

can an affidavit of heirship be put in more than one person's name can it be done by the administratrix
Welcome clovis,
As far as I know, an affidavit of heirship can be put into more than 1 person's name. This should be done by the heirs. I don't think an administratrix will be able to do this.
