renting a foreclosed home

Posted on: 06th Apr, 2010 07:57 am
I am currently renting a home that was foreclosed upon last month and is now for sale. The owner stopped making payments when we moved in. In addition, the irrigation pump broke and when we had it replaced he refused to reimburse us for the cost. When he moved out he left a bedroom set and a patio table and chairs. The house was foreclosed on over a month ago and I am wondering what will happen with that furniture? We would like to take it with us but aren't sure if that's legal? Any advice? By the way, we live in Florida.
Hi marina,

I don't think it will be legal for you to take away the furniture as the owner of the property has not sold it to you. It's better to leave the furniture there and move out.

Thanks

your landlord is clearly not going to go running to the house to remove the furniture. it's no longer his house anyway.

you might want to run your question by an attorney.
