Does foreclosure affect your credit if you are only on the title?

Posted on: 13th Jul, 2009 12:47 pm
My husband and I are divorcing and he was helping me pay the mortgage until recently. I can not afford the mortgage on my own and he is living with his parents. The mortgage is solely in my name because he did not have the credit to be on the loan, however, he is on the title. He told me that he is no longer going to help me with the mortgage and that he doesn't care if the bank forecloses. The house has been on the market for several months with no luck. I know that it sounds vindictive but I am curious to know if the foreclosure will affect him as it will me.

If his name is not on the mortgage, it will not affect his credit report in any way.

Only your credit report will have an effect

Good luck

all public record gets picked up and reported by credit reporting agencies. a foreclosure is public record. undoubtedly it will be reported on your husband's credit report.
