How do i get a Deed in Lieu if they have started the foreclosure process already? I've had no offers on my shortsale and my realtor has dropped the price 3x. Foreclosure date is set for May 24th 2010 and we are 6months behind. We just wanna get out without owing any money, what should we do?
hi jcpape,
you can talk to the loss mitigation department of your mortgage company regarding the deed in lieu (dil) of foreclosure. however, if the lender has already started foreclosure proceedings against you, they will probably not accept your request for the dil. but it is surely worth a try to talk to the lender once to check out if a dil is possible in this situation.
