Yes, the Hope Now Initiative is a program initiated by the Treasury department at HUD and 11 other companies which hold 60% of the ARMs which are expected to reset in 2-4 years or so. This program was meant to help borrowers struggling with their ARMs, so that they can avoid being in foreclosures.
In fact, the primary motive behind this program was to minimize foreclosure rates cross the nation. So far 8% of subprime borrowers have been helped by the end of 2007.
On account of this initiative many borrowers have been able to get back on track after missing a payment or so. They have negotiated for loan modification or alternative repayment plan to protect their homes from being foreclosed.
However, the sad news is even after such initiatives not many are able to keep up with the payments with loan work out options.
Thanks
