We are in a foreclosure process on our house. We have moved out of the house, and have maintained it as we are trying to short sale it. We have had 4 offers on it, but the bank (wells fargo), have refused all of them. We are now facing the date of the sheriff's sale in a few weeks. The bank said that a deed in lieu of is not possible, since the foreclosure proceedings have already started. Is it better to get a lawyer at this time?
welcome jashwood,
lenders do accept deed in lieu of foreclosure request when you are in foreclosure. you can once again try to negotiate with your lender and check out if he agrees to your request. however, if you are not comfortable in negotiating with your lender, then you can take the help of an attorney.
