Me and my wife are going through a divorce. My wife is buying a new home even though the divorce is not finalized. The divorce will be finalized before her new home is purchased. She is not a very responsible person. On paper she can not afford her new home. Let's say she ends up forclosing on this new property, will they come after me if our divorce is finalized? Could they come after me if our divorce is not finalized? I will not be the co-borrower on the loan. and we do live in California.
Hi Jamgh,
Welcome to the forums.
The lender or mortgage company won't come after you if your wife is buying a new home. Moreover, neither you're a co-borrower nor do you have your name on the title. It doesn't have anything to do with the divorce also. By the way, is the new home located in a community property state?
Thanks
