I got behind on my home mortgage and the lender sued for foreclosure. In the middle of this process my servicer sold my mortgage to a new mortgage company. The new mortgage company then sued me for foreclosure, I paid the new mortgage company up to date including the legal bills. Now the first law firm hired by the old mortgage company has obtained a sale date on my home which is up to date with the new mortgage company. What is the best way to correct this mess.
Hi KenB,
If your mortgage was sold off to a new company, then the old lender will not be able to come after you in order to recover the dues. If they do so, it will be considered as illegal. I will suggest you to contact an attorney and check out what actions you can take against the old lender.
