My son is in the final days of selling his small house in Georgia, and has been notified by the title company that a collection company has placed a lien that he did not know about. He had a payment plan with them that he has faithfully maintained, but after that started they apparently received a judgement against him in that county without his knowledge. It was his understanding that once he agreed to the payments that any other threatened action would have ceased. The title company claims they are contacting the collection company to resolve by an offer to buy down the debt and for teh closing to continue.
Any suggestions???

Welcome ray,
Once your son had agreed to make the payments, the creditor shouldn't have filed a case against him. Nevertheless, as the title company is dealing with them, i don't think you'll have to worry about it.
