death of a morgage holder

Posted on: 04th Mar, 2009 04:22 pm
we have a family member that has passed away . She did have her son quit claimed on to her home years before her mortgage . Now on the county real estate index online it states both of their names as grantor and the lender as grantee . Does that mean he is on the mortgage also? And what does he do now continue to pay it?
Hi tlg,

As the county real estate index shows, he is on the mortgage. Since he was added to the title and then the mortgage was taken, his name was included in the loan agreement. Now he should continue paying the mortgage. He can also have it refinanced in his name only.
