Can somebody help me and recomand a good search engine online to find mortgages? :?:
I personally don't like search engines so I don't recommend any. The search engines give teaser rates and your phone will get blown up with calls.

In my opinion, talking to some of the lenders in this forum would give you an apples to apples view of rates and fees.

Search engines are going to give you basically the same results as the yellow pages. You have an equal chance of getting good deal as you do getting a bad deal.

If you want to get a loan and need help finding a lender. You might try calling a title company or closing agent and asking them for a recommendation. The title company prepares the loan documents and works with the lenders. They deal with lots of different lenders and they will see who gives good deals and who doesn't.

Welcome Arourke,

You are right. One needs to approach lenders to find out a suitable program. But search engines can definitely help him reach lenders in any state.

However, he needs to talk to them about different offers and then compare and decide. So, he himself has to find which lender is suitable for him.

I agree not to use a search engine. It won't give you valuable information that you are looking for. There are many good mortgage brokers here that can get you a better deal than going from lender to lender to apply.

the above posters give sound advice.
To answer your question you can search on google by using these keywords: north carolina mortgage lender, north carolina mortgage broker, charlotte mortgage broker, charlotte mortgage lender, etc.

Notice how I used the state, and used the city that I'm located.
Replace the keywords with your city/state, and see what websites come up. You may find a wealth of information pertaining to your state doing it this way. Sometimes speaking to a person may not give you the full advantage if you're not taking 'notes'.
You'll probably forget everything when you leave their office, and will probably be back to square one. When you're speaking to a salesperson(in person), it is their fashion to try to sell you something immediately. If you were searching online, you will not have this pressure of thinking that you have to purchase something.

Becoming informed is by researching your question before asking it. This will enable you to ask the salesperson 'the right questions'.
Hope this helps.
