equity in a house?

Posted on: 22nd Apr, 2009 10:51 pm
Hello,
I am recently married and my husband's name is on the deed of a house that he used to live in with an ex. She has recently called him to sign a quick claim to get his name off the deed of the house, but my question is how do you find out the equity that is in a house? The house was recently refinanced and appraised, where would you get that info? His name was not on the mortage, only the deed. :D Thank you!
Hi

An equity is the difference between the current market value of the property and the total amount of liability attached to it. To find out the equity in the home, you need to know the current value of the house and the amount of debt owed against it.

And you can check your comparable house value on Realist.com and then look at your mortgage statements for balances...
