Can I buy a house with a section 8 voucher? What do I need to do?
Hi Guest.
Welcome to the forum.
Section-8 voucher program is for the people who have very low-income. So if you have very low income then you can apply for section 8 voucher. You can call your local Public Housing Agency (PHA) for further information on Homeownership Voucher Program.
Hope it helps. Feel free to ask if you have any further questions.
Best of luck,
Larry

how long does it takes to receive your voucher after applying for section 8?
Once you've applied for section8 voucher, you need to wait for some time. The waiting period will vary. It can take up to 3 years after you've applied. You need to contact the office of your housing authority and ask for the waiting period.
People should not answer questions when they don't have the correct information to give.
If you apply and you are not one of the following you will be put on a waiting list that could be for 10 years. The Section 8 vouchers is only open now for victims of domestic violence, open acs cases, homeless in a shelter or SSI or SSD which turns into section 8

guest, your first line is right on. unfortunately, the ones who need to know what you've stated will never get the message. that being said, did you notice that the thread you're responding to began 15 months ago? i'm sure our section 8 poster has finally received an answer that was suitable.

Hi,
"i have just got my sec 8 and i am a single mom of three and need of sum help"
If you've got your section 8 voucher, you need to start looking for an apartment. You can use your voucher for any property that accepts section 8. Many of the landlords accept section 8 as it assures a dependable source of income. If the home or apartment of your choice meets the section 8 requirements, the housing authority will do a contract with the landlord to pay rent on behalf of you.

yes you can buy a home with a section 8 voucher, you cannot sell that home for nine years. section 8 pays a down payment and your closing cost and from there on pays 60 to 70 percent of your mortgage.

Hi Pearl,
If you have the required income and credit scores, you'll be able to get a mortgage in order to buy a home of your own.
