in my divorce last nov 2009, my ex did not file a quit claim deed on our illinois home, bought while we were married. i am not on the mortgage loan. am i entitled to property value (home worth) without a quit claim deed? paperwork for quit claim was never brought up, my ex didn't have a lawyer, just signed my lawyers papers. i just want to know if it is legal for me to ask for 20% of home value, and would i get it if taken to court.
Hi plmtr!

Welcome to forums!

Illinois is not a community property state. If your name is not on the property deed, then you won't be able to claim any interest in the property.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
