Can I sell my "share" in a deeded property to me?

Posted on: 21st Jun, 2010 05:42 pm
I am co-owner of a property in Greenwood, Indiana. There are 5 other owners on the deed (six names in total on the property deed, with my stepmother having "life estate" in the property (formerly my father's house). Can I sell my sixth of the home to someone else? Do I need the approval of the other 5 names on the property's deed?
Hi piecemaker!

Welcome to forums!

You can sell your share of the property to someone else. However, you will have to inform the other co-owners about the same. As far as I know, you would require the approval of other 5 owners of the property while you transfer your share of the property to someone else.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
