walking away from condo

Posted on: 27th Jan, 2010 07:09 am
I have had my condo on the market since April of 2008 with only 2 offers that fell thru since then. Currently I work 4 different jobs to maintain my mortgage. Also, I want to move out of state before the summer. My last offer on the condo was in short sale and the company hired to help the bank with the short sale refused to submit the offer to the bank because the offer on the condo was too low and the buyer's did not want to counteroffer. So, needless to say the buyer's walked. I'm back at square one. I guess my question is considering I work 4 diff jobs, I'm current on my mortgage, I want to move south, but my condo is not selling, what should I do? I'm at the point where I want to walk away but I know that would not be the right thing to do. Please help. Thank you
moving south, i have to presume, means you won't be taking your 4 jobs with you. if the move is the predominant force in your life at this time, then you appear to have little choice as to how to handle the condo. leaving it behind and letting it go to foreclosure will certainly damage your credit standing, though it seems you have few choices anyway.

what will help to soften that blow is for you to maintain all other indebtedness from becoming a problem. defaulting on a mortgage will do plentiful damage, but it doesn't have to affect all the other items on a credit report.

you seem to be boxed in, without much choice as far as how to proceed.
