Trouble getting mortgage approval or denial from lender

Posted on: 01st Oct, 2010 07:59 am
I was preapproved for a mortgage thru my lender. I found a great home and started the process. I submitted all the paperwork as requested by my loan officer and my loan went to underwriting where it remained for 10 day. i finally hear back from ther lender that i needed to pay for the appriasal so the appraisal was paid for. The lender also requested additional paperwork concerning my school loans and two more most recent pay stubs and those were sent. So my paperwork went back to underwriting as my closing date is about 8 days away. I finally heard back from my lender the day of closing that i need to submit my tax returns (the transcripts were already submitted by the IRS to the lender). I informed my lender that the tax return transcripts were already submitted and the lender stated that in order to get the approval he needed all of them. My closing date has passed, i dont have copies of my whole tax returns and I am only recived my good faith estimate 8 days before closing. My lender refuses to disclose to me whether my loan has been approved or rejected. I am at a loss as to what to do at this point.
Hi Flyguy,

Unless you give all the required documents to the lender, he won't originate the loan for you though you've been pre-approved for a mortgage. Though you submitted your tax returns at a earlier date, you will have to submit the same to the lender once again if he has asked for it.
