i need to file for bankruptcy but my name is on the deed/mortgage both is it possible for me to file without the person i help sign for not to lose his home

It is not mandatory for you to file bankruptcy jointly with the other owner of the property. You can file bankruptcy alone. If the property is free and clear, then the trustee can sell it off to pay off your creditors. However, the other owner will get his share from the sale proceeds.
