Quitclaim or another way?

Posted on: 05th Sep, 2011 08:03 pm
We have Wells Fargo assumption package. In the divorce, my ex is awarded the home. It says nothing that I must Quitclaim the deed. The package asks for pertaining to divorce situations: A copy of the complete, filed divorce decree and property settlement statement or legal separation agreement. My ex says I now must sign a Quitclaim as this is the "property settlement statement". Is there another way, form or Court Order can use instead of a Quitclaim??
Hi suzannepc!

Welcome to forums!

In order to transfer the property to your ex, you will have to sign a quitclaim deed. Only a court order won't suffice the requirements of your ex-spouse. You can contact a real estate attorney and he will draft the quitclaim deed for you.

Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
