Home Assumption Denied - What to do Now

Posted on: 20th Sep, 2011 05:09 am
My husband and I are getting a divorce and are in quite the pickle with the house. We currently have two loans, a larger loan that is in his name only and a smaller loan that has both of our names on it. He DOES NOT want the house at all and I tried to do an assumption on the larger loan and was denied. In our divorce agreement, he would be paying off the smaller loan, thus reducing my outstanding debt but of course, that won't happen until the divorce is final.
The information on getting the smaller loan paid was not included in the original assumption application as we made tihis agreement after I was denied.
Do you think that it is safe for me to contact the bank and talk this through with them or do you think that they will even entertain the idea? There are just so many cards that need to fall just right to make this all happen.
Welcome Guest,

You can once again contact the lender and talk to him about the mortgage assumption as there has been a change in circumstances. May be now the lender will consider your request and you can assume the loan.
