How will bankruptcy affect my good credit score? I am considering filing and the only debt on my Credit Report that would be dismissed would be a rental house on which I have a mortgage of $90K. I do have a private promissory note that would also be dismissed. My credit score is 782 right now.
Hi Sally,
A bankruptcy filing will have a severe negative affect on your credit scores. It may lower your credit scores by 200 points or more. However, if you take the required steps, then with time, you will be able to improve your credit scores. Hi Sally!
Welcome to forums!
I agree with Jerry!! Your scores will lower down by around 200-250 points. The better your credit score, the higher chance of getting it lowered further in case of any negative mark mentioned on your credit report.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.
