My wife and i are in the middle of purchasing a house and have already signed the contigency addendum to fix the repairs. However, in the home inspection the inspector noted termite damage on the baseboard in the living room. After signing the addendum which states the seller will pay for repairs from termite damage I recieved information that there could be hidden damage in the wall behind the baseboard. Are we being unreasonable for being worried about the possible hidden damage and requesting a structural engineer to inspect the property for this potential hidden damage?
Welcome randcsel,
I don't think you're unreasonable for being worried about the possible hidden damage and requesting a structural engineer to inspect the property for this potential hidden damage. As there was a termite attack, there can be hidden damages in the wall. It is better to let the structural engineer have a look at the property.
