my husband and i filed chapter 7 bk in 2010, we paid our mortgage for the following 2 years as we had requested our home to be reaffirmed along with our cars. our cars were reaffirmed, however in trying to refinance our mortgage we found out that our mortgage was discharged in our bk. we can't afford our mortgage, as they will not refinance for us. but it doesn't seem we can purchase another house, what are our options if we chose to stay in our current home? we will not qualify for hardship. how do we get our credit scores up?
Hi jencarvajal,
Well, even if you make the payments on your mortgage, it won't get reported to your credit report as the mortgage is not reaffirmed. So, it won't help you improve your scores. You can check out with your bankruptcy attorney as to whether or not you can reopen the bankruptcy filing to get the mortgage reaffirmed.
Thanks
