In 9/2011 we started missing payments on the mortgage. In Feb 2012 I called to make payment and they said I would have to pay essentially 2xs the payments I owed because they had already sent to a lawyer. So I let the foreclosure proceedings start. In June 2012 I filed Chapter 7 bankruptcy. The home was sold at auction in August 2012. We were allowed to live in the home until 5/8/13. We then moved. on 12/24/13 I received a bill from the mortgage company for 18302.00. This amount represents all the payments since 9/2011 and late fees. I thought when either A. I filed bankruptcy or B. They SOLD the house my account should have been closed.
Also, I had the mortgage for 16 years prior to this, and had a 7.5% interest. I never remortgaged or anything. But the mortgage was sold 3 times in that 16 years. How can I still owe 43000? No one can answer this question for me.

Hi Karaz,
If you have filed bankruptcy and received a discharge, then the lender will not be able to come after you for any kind of delinquent amount. You should inform the lender and have a word in this regard.
Thanks
