florida homestead exemption filing

to apply for homestead exemption what proof of ownership and residence are accepted, I live in Miami-Dade county, Florida and by when should I file.

Welcome to Mortgagefit forum.

You can apply for the exemption by 1st March this year and to apply you will be requird to provide your social security number and any one of the following as ownership proof:
  • Notice of proposed property taxes
  • Computer public value inquiry printout
  • Warranty deed
  • Homestead exemption automatic renewal receipt
  • Property tax bill
And for proving that you are a resident of Florida, any 2 of the following will be required:
  • Doctor's letter on Doctor's letterhead
  • Florida Unemployment Compensation Registration
  • Voter Registration
  • SSA-1099 fiscal year Social Security Statement addressed in Florida
  • School letter attesting child's registration or Child School report card
  • Driver's License
  • Church letter on Church letterhead
  • W-2 Form addressed in Florida or 1040 Income Tax Return filed in Florida
  • Automobile registration (License tag number in your name)
  • Intangible Tax Return filed from Florida
  • Moving van receipt from another county or state
  • Employment letter on employer's letterhead
  • Florida Unemployment Compensation Registration
