Right of way issues

Hello:
I have a situation here in Kansas where the local township is clearing trees from the right-of-way on a road. These trees are on my landlord's property. Instead of merely trimming branches, they are now actually selectively cutting the best and keeping the best pieces as "Hedge" posts. In the fence-building industry, these are quite valuable. The township representative is actually having his hired man (incidentally, my uncle) do the work and is giving him a share of the posts as his pay. The rest are being taken by the township rep. No communication has been made with my landlords, their local relatives, or myself- the tennant, concerning this issue.

Does this township board member have the right to claim these valuable posts ? Shouldn't the landlord have the first right to something of value removed from their property? Can the township use something that isn't theirs to pay someone to do the job? What rights do I have as the tennant? How can I protect my landlords interest? Thanks!
The trees are on the property of your landlord. Thus, the township board member cannot claim these valuable posts. The landlord should be informed about the whole thing.
