FC sale in NY State

Posted on: 18th Jun, 2009 12:10 pm
My home is going up for foreclosure sale on July 7. How long will I have after the sale before I actually have to move out? I have 3 children in the home and 2 of the kids father recently passed and that is why the house is in FC.
The foreclosure sale must be advertised 4 weeks in advance of any sale. Average length of time is probably 3-4 months before the foreclosure is granted but every situation is different. Also, there is no right of redemption in New York, meaning you can't reclaim the property by paying the outstanding balance on the loan/associated costs.
Good luck.

I do realize this. It has already been advertised and the actual sale is July 7. I was told that I would have 90 days to leave. I just wanted to be sure.

90 days seems like a long time. Typically the new owner will take posession after 30 days.

So unfortunate but hopefully will be at the long end of the time range. Best of luck to you and your family.

eric that's assuming that there's a lender capable of delivering an approval and a clear to close within 30 days. i don't know any.
