removing a borrower from mortgage loan

Posted on: 26th Aug, 2009 09:48 am
I recently received a large settlement and would like to pay off my home. The problem is that my sister was the borrower and I was the co-borrower. My credit was okay so she helped me to get the house. How can I remove her name from the mortgage loan before I pay off the loan? Also, I have only lived in the house for 3 yrs.
kport, i don't quite get why you feel the need to take your sister's name off the mortgage before you pay it off. are you really intending to take her name off title instead of the mortgage? that makes more sense to me.
i don't think there's any benefit (unless it's emotional) to you if you eliminate her name from that mortgage debt.
