2009 Tax return home loan intrest question

Posted on: 30th Jan, 2010 09:54 am
Should or can I claim intrest still on my 2009 taxes if I never paid any home loan payment throughout 2009? They have not foreclosed on my home yet and I haven't received anything from bank of america (THEY SUCK), but its not like i'm expecting anything since I didn't make a payment. Just wanted to know before I file my taxes.
Thanks!
you can only claim a deduction for interest that you've actually paid. you won't be getting a statement, i'd have to assume, from b of a, resulting from your having made no payments. they may send one after all, but i'm not thinking they will.

but please don't add to your problems by filing a false tax return. you don't want the irs to come looking for you as well.

Your not going to get anything from BOA this year if you haven't made any payments. I am not a big fan of theirs either but why do you say that they suck?
