If we are going to add another person to a property, shall we do quit claim or grant deed and how? Meaning, if I am the grantor and would be adding my husband, will I still include my name to the grantee? thanks, MP
how will i add my husband's name to our property?
hi,
you can use a quit claim deed to add your husband's name to the property. but this deed will not give your husband any warranty as to whether there are previous liens on the property or if there will be future claims on it. so, to provide him with these warranties, you can instead use a grant deed. i think he will be more comfortable with using a grant deed for the transfer.
thanks,
caron.
