My neighbor has agreed to give me a section of their property that is essentially useless to them, but would add about 8' on to the back of our property and would allow us to do some things we want to do, such as build a garage. Can the transfer of this section of property be accomplished through a quick deed or will we need to go about another process? Also, since our property lines will essentially be shifted (we gain 8' on to the back of our property and they lose 8' off of theirs), will we need to have the properties re-surveyed and recorded with the city?
hi rob,
your neighbor can transfer that section of property in your name through quit claim deed.
thanks

Hi Rob,
The quit claim deed should be recorded with the county recorder's office to be a valid proof that the transfer of title was made in your favor.
