Hello, I live in WA and wish to quick deed my house into my wife's name (same sex partnership). Is this considered the same as married couples when it comes to the tax exemptions?
Hi Jfay,
I think you have the same rights of exemption as in case of married couples. You need to consult a lawyer for the exact information.

Hi Jfay,
As far as I know, the same sex partners enjoy same tax advantages as married couples, be it the inheritance tax or the capital gains tax. For example, in San Francisco, the tax assessor has declared same sex partners as spouses.
You need to contact a local tax assessor for further details on this issue.
Thanks,
Sara.

In Washington, a civil union or same sex is not taken as unmarried couple by the federal government. Domestic partner benefits are taxed federally.
