difference in claims quick /quit

Posted on: 21st Sep, 2006 04:04 pm
What is the difference between quick claim / quit claim. we want to put my name back on the deed for tax purposes. also is it ok for joint owners to claim the house. for instance me one year and the other party the next year and so on. Also where can I get these forms... Thank you
Hi,

There is no difference between quick claim and quit claim.

Actually it is quit claim and people sometimes by mistake enter quick instead of quit. That’s all :)

Hi Shortyheldberg,

The quit claim deed can be done in case of joint ownership. You can get the form prepared by an attorney. Though there are sample forms available, but yours may be slightly different on account of the terms and conditions of property transfer in your case.

You can refer to the form as suggested by Colin, but it is better to contact an attorney in order to get the form and record the deed.

Thanks,

Caron.
