:( Help!!! My apartment complex is going to be condemn and bank foreclose on them. What going to happen to me and my family?
I am not an expert on condemnation, but rule of thumb when a home, apt building is foreclosed, if you have a bonafide, valid lease, the new owners must honor the end of the lease agreement.
For the condemnation, I dont believe the county or city will allow any tenants to remain in the property, as due to in-habitability of the property. If you are told to move, you are given a 3 day notice. After that, the owner, city or whoever, needs to file an unlawful detainer action, which is a lawsuit to formally evict you. Which takes about 2-4 weeks to complete the eviction process. Check with your city as far as your rights concerning the condemned property.
