Will a Quit Claim take care of the situation

Posted on: 03rd Jan, 2007 03:02 pm
i recently got married. my husband owns a home in oregon and i own a home in wa state. we were married in wa and are living in my home in wa. the or home is presently being marketed for sale....and as soon as it sells we will market the one in wa. q: would it be advisable in the interm to do a quit claim deed on both properties in order to get our names on both property titles, especially since or is not a community property state. we want to protect one another during this time in case something tragic happens to one of us. thank you

Alice,

Quit claim would certainly help to make both of you equal owners for both the homes.

And in case something bad does happen to any one of you the other will have ownership rights over both the homes.

Hi Alice,

Welcome to this forum.

You can add both of your names on the properties. This will help you to protect each of your share of interest in the property.

Thanks
