Quit Claim Deeds on Property that still has a Mortgage on it

Posted on: 12th Apr, 2007 11:46 am
Can someone Quit Claim A portion of their Property to someone else if the Grantor still has a Mortgage on there Property?
Hi Jo,

Welcome to Mortgagefit discussion board.

Property can be quit claimed but as there is a mortgage you should let the lender know about it. At the time mortgage was taken title was in the name of the grantor but now title ownership will change that is why lender should be made aware of it.

Thanks

Yes Jo, that is quite possible. But let me also tell you that because a portion was quit claimed that person will not become liable towards the mortgage. Mortgage will remain in the name of grantor.
