finding home price?

Posted on: 18th Apr, 2007 01:07 pm
I was wondering if there is a site that will let you know how much a home was recently sold for. not like zillow, I need something with very factual information. I'm looking for the palm beach county area in florida, thank you
Best thing to do will be to check the county records, from there you will be able to get the details.

Hi,

Welcome to Mortgagefit discussion board.

If you go to your county recorder's office, they will assist you in searching the records. But you will be required to have the information about the owner of the house, its legal description or should be able to able to identify that parcel on a tax map.

This map is located at the county assessor's office. Once you have located the house, its deed of record will have revenue stamps by which you will be able to know the sale price.

Do let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks
Blue

that all seems very complicated considering I may need to do it for several dozen properties. I know there are sites that give this info for free I have been on them before, but I can't find the links. how accurate is zillow? is it worth paying attention to?

Zillow, can only give a very general house sale price range, and often times is not close to what actually the houses are selling for in the locality.

You can check for getting a rough idea, thats all

The other way is to ask a Realtor in your area to help you out. That information is most accurate coming from the MLS. I don't know about FL but in TX we are not required by law to disclose final sales prices so it can be difficult to get that information anywhere other than the MLS and so Zillow is wildly inaccurate.
