Welcome Glenda,
You need to contact his lawyer, if any, and find out if your father has left behind any Will. And, in case, there is no Will, you need to contact the local court and request for a distribution of the property. The court will then divide the property by the laws of intestate succession - a legal process of distributing property where there is no Will.

Hi Glenda,
Sorry to hear about your father's death.
If your father did not leave a will then ownership of land will be decided as per laws of intestate succession as Adonis has mentioned.
You can know more about how laws of intestate succession work from this page, http://delcode.delaware.gov/title12/c005/index.shtml
If you let me know which state you are in then I can provide you details of laws of intestate succession applicable in your state. But more or less they would be similar to what are applicable in Delaware as given in the above link.
