what is meant by a callable debt?

It is a kind of debt which can be called due before its actual maturity date. The issuers of callable debt generally provide higher interest rate for such debt for getting the right to call it due before its stated maturity date and his discretion.

- American, this has a continuous call option on or after a specific date.
- Bermudan, where it can get due to be paid, semi-annually or quarterly.
- European, only a single date on which the debt can be called due.
