I am buying my first home and looking for a checklist so I know that I am doing everything correctly. I found information on "zillow.com" as well as "themortgagechecklist.com" Are these sufficient or is there something else out there?

I did check out the website mortgagechecklist.com and found the information sufficient. You can keep in mind that checklist while taking out a mortgage on your property.

Both are pretty good sites. I'd suggest talking with a loan officer directly. Those sites only give you the basics and underwriter's are much more detailed these days.
