contract for deed and unpaid taxes

Posted on: 02nd Sep, 2008 01:30 pm
We have a contract for deed and in it the owners are supposed to pay the taxes and insurance. I recently found out they have not paid the taxes since 2002. The 2002 and 2003 taxes are up for foreclosure. If I pay these what happnes with the mortgage? Am I responsible for that still?
Hi amimcnosal,

Do you mean that the property is having a tax lien on account of back taxes? Have you not paid off the amount financed through contract for deed? If you have stopped paying, you should resume the payments again. Otherwise it will affect your credit negatively.

Thanks
