How can I correct a mistake on my federal e-file return?
Hi Richo,
Welcome to forums.
How you should correct the mistakes will depend upon the type of mistakes you are actually committing. For instance, there can be mathematical errors that can be found out at the time of processing the tax return itself. You may also forget to attach a particular schedule of the tax return form. In that case, the IRS will contact you for the details you've missed out.
There can be instances where you haven't reported your income or haven't claimed a credit. In that case, you can file an amended tax return.
Thanks
