what are difference between Federal Housing Adminstration and Federal housing authoritly. what is FHA stand for?
The Federal Housing Administration (FHA) is the federal agency created during the depression in 1934 which federally insures mortgage loans. There are some websites that like to enterchangeably use the term Federal Housing Authority as FHA but the FHA website does not recognize this name. According to the FHA or HUD website, Federal Housing Authority is only used in reference to local housing authorities under federal receivership. Local housing authorities are responsible for programs involving public housing, section 8, etc.
