I am seperated but not divorced. I have been living in a rented home for two years and I really want to own my own home. Can I apply for a loan in my name to buy a house? I am currently on the deed but not the mortgage of the townhouse my ex husband lives in
Hi maggieshuffle!

As you are not on the mortgage docs of the townhouse that your ex-husband owns, you will be able to apply for a mortgage in your name. However, you should remember that before approving a loan in your name, the lender will check your credit score, income as well as employment history. Feel free to ask if you have further queries.

yes, you most certainly may apply for a loan to purchase your own home.
check with your state's housing agency to see if there is a program into which your situation might fit. you'll probably find that rates and terms will be most beneficial if you find such a program.
