What is the 1003.
The 1003 is the mortgage application itself.
which reminds me of the first time i heard about a "1008." i had no idea what the person was referring to. i grew up in this business using terms like "loan application" and "transmittal" and it came as a shock to me that i suddenly had to begin using numbers to identify documents. then, later on, a truth in lending disclosure became a "til" and i was in a new kind of shock.
i suppose this is, after all, quite a shocking business to be in.

what is this application for?
exactly where this application is used?

please take note of the answer that eric provided to the original question.
an application is used to apply for something; in this case, it's to apply for a loan that a person wishes to obtain.
i hope that's clear.
