How can I get any kind of modification while I am unemployed

Posted on: 11th Mar, 2011 08:32 pm
I just got my HAMP packet today. Big time underwater (100-125k) with a 1st (Prov Fund) and 2nd (WF). While I convinced the telephone rep I need/qualify for help as I am unable to make payments due to unemployment I am a little worried that I can convince a underwriter that I can make payments (trial or otherwise) on unemployment. They are waiting for me to provide docs, hardship, ect...

How does that work? I don't think I'll be unemployed forever but then again, these guys are gonna want their money sooner or later. Can someone please help? BTW, great boards!
Hi,

If you're unemployed now, then it will be difficult for you to qualify for a loan modification. If you don't have a job, you won't be able to convince the lender that you can pay the loan after modification. Thus, your lender will not be ready to modify your loan.
