Hi there... I own a home. A friend of mine wants to purchase the home. However, he does not want to go through a realtor. What steps do we need to take here?
Hi Guest,
In this case, there should be a written contract between the seller and the buyer. You can contact an attorney and he will help you in drafting the contract.

Contact a local title company. They will usually be able to handle the closing for you for a small fee without any realtors.
You will need to get a contract together - in most states there are generic contracts available - you may want to look for the local Realtor association and find out where their store is - they will have the contracts available that the Realtors in the area use - once you have a contract and are ready to close (you didnt say if the buyer was using cash or getting a loan) you will need to work with a title company or RE Atty (depends on the local customs/laws). If they are getting a loan the lender will need this info upfront and may be able to help in finding a reputable company to work with - the title people will guide you through the rest.......
