Is it Wise to Use internet for Home Purchase

Posted on: 09th Aug, 2008 10:35 am
I want to to avoid dealing with brokers, loan officers, etc. in person if possible because I want to shop around for a good deal and I don't like pressure like from a car dealer. I mean, can I go straight to the bank, get a loan and search for a home online?

Also, I am filling out an application at Lending Tree. I saw this:

"You authorize LendingTree and the Lenders to whom LendingTree provides this information to: request from one or multiple credit bureaus /reporting agencies, your credit bureau report including any ancillary credit scores or ratings; check your credit and employment history; and, return their decision to you via the LendingTree system. LendingTree's inquiry for your credit bureau report DOES NOT count towards your FICO score (provided by Fair Isaac Corporation)."

Am I mistaken? This is not an inquiry on my report :?:
They just say that because they only initially do a soft hit on your credit report which does not affect your credit score. Although after you choose the lender you wish to work with I'm sure they will require a full credit application be processed meaning that ultimately it will affect your credit. If you are hesitant to deal with someone online my best advice would be to ask any local homeowners you know who they dealt with and for their experiences with the lender. If you don't mind looking online then I would begin right here. I'm sure the people here could help you to find a suitable lender.

Good luck.
