We are considering purchasing a home that is a short sell and has been on the market for about 28 months with, according to the seller's agent, no offers. My question is, as a potential buyer should we ask for the seller to pay a portion of the closing costs?
I don't know if a lender involved in a short sale would allow a seller to pay a portion of closing costs. After all, that's money coming out of the lender's pockets, in essence.
Hi mommieofaprincess!

You may request the seller to pay a portion of the closing costs. But as George says, it will depend upon the discretion of the lender whether or not he will allow it.
Feel free to ask if you've further queries.

Y'know, I didn't even look at the name you chose, "Mommie," but I'm impressed. As the father of a current Prince who's on his way to reigning as King, I applaud you for recognizing her publicly.
